Party jokes startling but unnecessary

Here, I focus on a range of items and features that we use in life without giving them a second thought such as Coca Cola, body muscles and holding ones own breath. Though, most of these notes are not fundamentally necessary, they are such that you can use them for a good laugh, at a drinks party or for picking up women or men.

1) Coca-Cola: Did you know that its original colour was green?

2) Mohammed: Did you know that this is the most used name in the entire world?

3) Geographical Letters: Did you know that the name of each of the continents begins and concludes with the exact same alphabet? Do not believe that? Look up Asia, Europe, Africa, America, Antarctica and the rest.

4) Muscle Strength: Did you know that the strongest muscle in the entire body is that one which we use to lick a popsicle? Your tongue.

5) Credit Cards: In the United States, were you aware that each and every person has at least two credit cards?

6) An Antique Machine: The word for an old machine that was once used for writing letters and other documents is the largest word that one can make if they click only on a single row of their computer's keyboard: typewriter!

7) Blink: Men wink at women, but research has found out that the average woman blinks nearly two times more than the average man.

8) Suicide: Even though you might have wondered if it was possible, studies have discovered that it is impossible to kill oneself by simply holding in your breath.

9) Licking: However much you may try, you will never be able to lick your elbows.

10) Sneeze: Try sneezing. People will automatically answer you with a bless you greeting. Have you ever imagined why? Some say that this happens because a sneeze stops the functioning of the heart for a very tiny second.

11) The Blue Sky: Did you know that a pig, no matter how much they try, cannot look up into the sky?

12) Twisting Your Tongue: We have all dabbled with different tongue-twisters in our day. But do you know which is the toughest? Sixth sick sheiks sixth sheeps sick.

13) Ribs: Did you know that you should try not to sneeze too strongly. Why? A very powerful sneeze has the ability to cause a fracture in your ribcage. But, then again, if you try and withhold one, you stand the chance of breaking one of the many blood vessels in your neck or head. This could cause death.

14) Cards: Did you think that the Kings are all just random cards referring to random figures? No. Each one signifies a different king: Diamonds for Julius Caesar, Clubs for Alexander the Great, Spades for David and Hearts for Charlemagne.

15) And finally: Most everyone reading this (Caught You!) are trying to lick their elbows at this exact moment!

Conclusion: Most of these are not scientific facts, but they are hilarious, funny and can be used to lighten up the ambience when a conversation has gone dull. Use any and see your popularity rise up to great heights. Visit gambling-portal. com for more jokes.

Affiliate marketing is revenue sharing

One of the most popular and undeniable methods of earning money online is the setting up of an affiliate marketing business. Anyone who is determined, resourceful, and willing to learn can become successful in affiliate marketing. But how can affiliate marketing result to earning money? First, the business of affiliate marketing can be described as a joint effort of two businesses. That is, affiliate marketing is basically a relationship between two businesses in which, the common purpose is to increase visitor traffic. One business is called the Advertiser, and the other is called the Publisher or the Affiliate.

The financial relationship of the Advertiser and the Publisher is based on revenue sharing. The Advertiser will place ads in the website of the Publisher. These ads are links towards the website of the Advertiser. And when a visitor clicks on the link, the Advertiser will pay the Publisher. The payment or compensation given to the Publisher will be based on any of these arrangements.

Cost Per Click

In “cost per click” or CPC, the Advertiser has arranged to pay the Publisher or Affiliate each time a visitor ends up in the Advertiser’s website from the link in the Publisher’s website. What actually happens is that the Publisher has articles or products that have attracted Internet users. And while the Internet user is in the website of the Publisher, this Internet user will be aware of the existence of the Advertiser’s website.

In the ads or banner of the Advertiser, there will be one or two sentences that will entice the Internet user to visit the Advertiser’s website. Of course, the Advertiser may have several Publishers and it will have a system that will identify which Publisher has referred the visitor.

Cost Per Lead

In “cost per lead” or CPL, the visitor that was referred by the Publisher must sign-up or fill-up a form before the Publisher is entitled to a commission or compensation. When the visitor signs-up, he becomes a lead for the Advertiser to more target clients. Since a lead is more valuable than a simple visitor, the compensation given to the Publisher for each lead is relatively higher than the pay for each visitor.

Cost Per Acquisition

In “cost per acquisition” or CPA, the visitor that was referred by the Publisher decides to purchase the products or services from the website of the Advertiser. The visitor becomes a paying customer. When there is a paying customer, the Advertiser earns income. And when the Advertiser earns income, a part of it is shared with the Publisher in the form of a commission.

Yoga and exercise as scoliosis treatments

As defined in medical terminology, scoliosis is characterized as a complex rotational and lateral deformity and curvature of the human spine. This condition may either be classified as idiopathic, a secondary symptom, or congenital.

Causes for some forms of scoliosis are still undefined or unknown. This condition is more adamant among females. Some people often falsely associated scoliosis to bad posture, slouching, and awkward positioning of the body. This condition is also not caused by carrying heavy objects, and it also has nothing to do with a person’s lack of calcium in diet.

Although, it is mostly the adults who experience extreme back pains due to scoliosis, the symptoms and signs for this condition generally worsen during the adolescent years.

The symptoms for scoliosis vary. Persistent back pain does not necessarily confirm one to have scoliosis. Some of the most common signs of this condition are the following:

1. Prominent shoulder blades

2. Uneven level of shoulders and hips

3. Uneven distance between body and arms

4. Clothes do not fit or hang appropriately

The most popular relief treatments for scoliosis condition are surgery and bracing, and the most common treatment is by means of observation. Surgery is recommended to patients with curves that have high degree of progression. It is also a solution for those who experience pain regularly as well as for those who have curves that significantly affect their physiological functions.

On the other hand, bracing is commonly advised among adolescents to further prevent progression of their spinal curves. Braces, however, do not always give the same result. There are instances when patients still undergo surgery even after they were braced. This scoliosis treatment also has several types, depending on the condition of the patient’s curve.

Aside from surgery, bracing, and observation, yoga or exercise is also known to be a great treatment for scoliosis. Performing yoga exercises helps in correcting and easing the pain brought by scoliosis for it thoroughly stretches the body.

Although some experts claim that yoga and exercise have little effect to correct scoliosis, these actually help in avoiding further progression of the spinal curve. These can also reduce the angle of the spinal curvature. Patients with braces are also recommended to perform yoga or exercise, for these help them adapt more quickly to the brace.

Recommended yoga exercises for patients with scoliosis

1. Crocodile Twist scoliosis exercise

This yoga exercise is regarded as one of the most effective yoga exercise for patients with scoliosis.

2. Passive back arch scoliosis exercise

This exercise is a good way to reduce the pain brought by scoliosis, as well as it is a perfect treatment for related body conditions.

3. One leg up and one leg out scoliosis exercise

This exercise is reported to be very effective as it reduces tensions in the leg muscles. The seated twist version of this exercise is also a recommended exercise to treat thoracic twist condition. Apart from its simplicity, the seated twist exercise helps a lot in correcting the body alignment.

The first thing I would like to do is share with you an email that I recently received that provided the inspiration for this article.

Mr. Calvert,

Hello, my name is Tanya Jameson. I met you a few months ago at the Bunny Slipper Boot Camp you spoke at in Las Vegas. I am the one that spoke to you after the Boot Camp and told you I was going to invest in your “How to Create a $5,000 Monthly Income with Ebay and Online Auctions Course” after I had a couple of yard sales.

I knew at the time, you probably didn’t believe me, but I did go to OnlineAuctionU. com and purchase your course. Anyway I just wanted to let you know that I have followed your course step-by-step and last month I have my first month of over $5,000.00 in profits, $5,233.70 to be exact and I am having a blast. My 5 year old daughter helps me in my business and because of your course; I never have to worry about taking a job outside the home again.

Now for my question, at the seminar you said that you personally spend over $15,000 a year on books, tapes, seminars, and other personal development courses.

My question is why?

You have a net worth of millions of dollars, you speak all over the world at seminars, and have dozens of training programs, why do you still invest so much money? I am just curious; please respond when you have an opportunity.

Thank you for helping me change my life!

Tanya Jameson

Here is my response:

Tanya,

Congratulations on your first $5,000 month! You now have developed the skills and knowledge to be able to write your own pay check every month with Ebay and online auctions. I am proud of you and I appreciate you taking the time to send me an email.

Now regarding your question and why I spend so much money on personal education.

My definition of success is not how much cash, or how many toys you have. To me “Success is living your life working towards worthy Goals” When I was broke, living in a small 600 foot square home and driving a beat up Chevette, I was as successful then as I am now, because I had worthy goals that I was working towards daily.

Now here is the “brain tweak” once I reached those goals, I was no longer a success. Think about that one for a minute. The only way I could maintain my success is to set new goals!

When I was financially broke, I developed the habit of spending 10% of my income on my own personal education. Jim Rohn says “Formal education will make you a living; if you become self-educated you can create a fortune”

That is one of the things I absolutely enjoy about the Internet, it is a constantly evolving marketing medium. There are always new ideas to learn and concepts and methods to test and put into practice.

Thankfully, my income got to a point, where I could no longer spend 10% on courses, books and tapes. So I was able to buy books and training programs for other people, and at one point provide the book “Think and Grow Rich” to the entire graduating class at our local high school.

However today, I am constantly learning and working towards worthy goals, and I hope you will continue to do the same.

I wish you much success, and as always let me know what I can do to support and help you. I appreciate your support, and again thanks for taking the time to send the email.

I sincerely hope that my response to Tanya has resonated in your mind. If you are broke, but working towards worthy goals, YOU ARE A SUCCESS. Today’s world is full of self educated marketing masters that offer an endless supply of books, tapes, and training programs to help us all become better at what we do.

Oh yeah, before I forget, why is the title of this article $1,167.00? That is what I spent last month for personal educational and training programs. Become “self educated” and I will see you on the never ending road to success!

Golf has come a long way

Can you imagine what the people that came up with golf at St. Andrews would think of about it now ?

Some might get down right sick to their stomachs, others would be insanely jealous. The jealous one’s want all of our high tech clubs and golf balls and the one’s that are sick of us, would hate the fact that we changed the game for ever. But with changed equipment has come changed golf courses that are much harder than the original St. Andrews Golf Course.

The original golfers had no quality equipment of any kind they didn’t even have a golf ball yet. Their clubs were nothing but wood, basically a stick with flat end on it. The balls they used could barely even be called a ball, no where near round or perfect like we have today. To think we complain every time we scratch a ball by hitting a cart path or something, and they played very well with what they had.

In the last 20 years golf has changed dramatically, from the equipment, to the players and fans. The clubs have added a tremendous amount of distance to a player’s game and today’s golf balls are scientifically engineered to help with spin, bounce, and distance as well. The overall sport has taken off all over the world, kids are playing in high schools, and colleges, and ticket sales for PGA events are often sold out. Most course you visit are full and it’s getting harder to get a tee time places.

Not only has the equipment to play the game advanced, but practice equipment and training aids have improved too. Every part of the game has it’s own focus, from your grip and stance to your swing. All these advantages we have now are the things that history’s golfers would love and hate.

By improving the equipment, have we made the game easier ? …NO

Bobby Jones said it best; “Golf is played in the five inches in between you ears.” So golf will never get easier, it will always be our head games that make it so hard. There are books, audio books, and all types of other training aids to try and help your ‘mental golf game’. Some of these things will work for some, but others will need to just keep practicing until their confidence comes around and your thinking less and just swinging more.

Golf is a game to bring families and friends together, offering a day outing to bond and learn about each other. Being out in nature playing a round of golf with the people you love hasn’t changed since the first rounds at St. Andrews. For more information on golf see here: tydaniels. com/

To realize your dreams focus on significance not success

"The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success, but on significance." - Oprah Winfrey

What if true fulfillment could be found not in what we achieve, but in the significance of what we do?

Often, when we think about setting goals for ourselves, we think about what we could have or do that would bring us great success. We dream of a promotion, being on TV, winning the lottery, going on exotic trips, and of the proverbial, shiny red corvette. All these things represent a form of success that we imagine being available for ourselves.

It seems reasonable that winning the lottery or getting a new car would increase our standard of living. After all, who couldn't use more money or a better car? However once we've made it to one level of success, we rarely take a moment to appreciate it before moving on to the next. The material object we desire has been captured, and the chase is over.

It is instances like this where we have failed to make a true difference in our own lives. By focusing on objects of success, rather than objects of significance, we have created a continuous cycle of disappointment.

How is focusing on success different from focusing on significance?

We all have a slightly different idea of what success is, based on our own opinions of what it takes to have, be, and do 'more' or 'better.' In this sense, the things we feel successful about are measurable things in our life. Getting the promotion means we have succeeded in acquiring a measurable result. Winning the lottery is a measurable result, as is making it onto Jeopardy(tm), visiting Nepal, or owning a corvette.

We also have our own opinions of what is significant in our lives. Our families, friends, spiritual commitments, and health are just a few examples. Sometimes we sacrifice experiences and actions that would make a profound impact in what we would consider significant in our lives, because we are blinded by the more appealing, "successful" solution that will make us look really good.

If your dream is for your children to grow up to be healthy, have solid values, and be productive citizens, which would make a more significant impact in their lives? You getting a high-paying job where you travel a lot and aren't home often, but have plenty of money to pay the bills, treat them to movies, and pay for their college tuition? Or would your dream more significantly be fulfilled by taking on a lower-paying job where you are home more, available to spend time with them creating memories, and allowing them to take on the responsibility of paying their way through school?

Neither of these options is "right" or "wrong", but they will each have a very different results. Each year millions of parents make decisions just like this, and many opt to be financially successful, because they equate having money to being a good parent. They were brought up, perhaps not having a lot of money, and recognize opportunities that they can make available to their kids using money as a tool.

For another example, let's say that since you started your marketing firm, your dream has been to help home-based businesses reach their market expansion dreams. Like all marketing and media firms, you are bombarded with opportunities to win awards and prestigious recognition for the work you do. The issue is that in order to win the awards and gain much desired exposure, you must alter the way you do business.

Will you continue to run your business in a way that significantly impacts the lives and futures of your clients? Or will you choose to chase the images of success that lie in awards and recognition? Is it possible to do both and still fulfill upon your mission?

If your dreams are a classroom, significance is the genuine learning experience, and success is a standardized test. While you are experiencing true learning and growth, you might learn what you need to ace the test, but when you teach only for the test, you miss out on a lot of wonderful experiences that aren't related to the final exam.

The latest money saving group health insurance strategies for california employers

1. Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

This is a strategy where the employer buys a health plan with a large deductible. Typically, these are groups that are coming from a plan with a very low deductible. Since the higher deductible plans are usually much less money, the money saved is used to put into the employee's "Health Savings Account." The money in this account is used by the employee to pay qualified medical expenses. If it's not used, the money rolls over to the next year. The money belongs to the employee, even if they leave the company.

2. Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA)

This is very similar to the HSA above but a portion of the qualified medical expenses not covered by the insurance is "pledged" by the employer, that is, the employer only spends the money, if there is a portion of the bill not paid by the insurance. This would be more favorable to the employer since on an HSA the money goes to the employee, whether there are claims or not. The problem with HRAs is that there are very few carriers that offer them right now.

3. Medical Reimbursement Accounts

This is very similar to HRAs above and extremely flexible. It's otherwise known as partial self-funding. Employer buys a larger deductible and if the employee uses up that deductible, the employer pays all or a portion of it, depending on how a pre-arranged agreement is written. This goes for other expenses not paid by the insurance. The idea is that the employer self insures the typically smaller expenses with their own cash, (presumably, the savings in premium dollars from going to a higher deductible.) The downside to this is that many carriers prohibit the use of this strategy with their plans. It can be very effective but make sure you use an experienced third party administrator as there may be some legal and tax documentation required. Otherwise known as Section 105.

4. Kaiser.

More and more groups are moving to Kaiser. It is typically, benefit for benefit, less money than just about every other plan. Kaiser is spending billions on the future and their quality control is promising.

5. Offering Blue Cross and Kaiser side by side. Blue Cross has a new program where only five employees need to enroll with Blue Cross. The rest can be with Kaiser. This is a ground breaking opportunity in flexibility.

6. Blue Cross Elect. Blue Cross has a portfolio called Elect with 16 plans in it comprised of HMOs, PPOs, and an EPO plan. Each of these plans is priced from low premiums up to a much higher premium.

The beauty of this program is that Blue Cross allows the employer to "define" how much premium they are willing to pay towards an employee's cost. For example, Blue Cross offers a $10, $20, $25, $30, $35, and a $40 copay PPO plan. The $10 plan is the most expensive of this group.

After viewing all of the premiums for the various plans, the employer can establish, arbitrarily, which plan they are willing to pay, say the employee only premium for. In this case, let's say it's the $25 copay plan. The employee can buy the $25 copay plan and it doesn't cost them anything. However, if they want the more expensive $10 copay plan, the employer would payroll deduct the difference in premium costs.

Let's say they have dependents they want to cover but the employer only wants to pay for the employee only. The employee could take the lesser expensive $40 copay plan, and use a little bit of the savings to help them with the costs of adding their dependents.

This has been a highly successful program because it gives the employees a greater number of choices, helping the employees be more definitive in their costs and needs, and at the same time, allows the employer to more efficiently define their costs.

Online sports betting tips

Online sports’ betting is on the rise and growing each and every passing day. It has been estimated that by 2007 the online gaming industry will increase to over ten billion dollars and growing strong. Everybody wants in on a piece of the action but it is getting more and more complicated to find relevant information you can trust and count on pertaining to online sports betting. Below we are going to help you find the sports betting information you need before you risk your hard earned dollars.

First let’s start with where you are planning to do all of your sports betting online. There are over a thousand sportsbooks on the internet today and most of the sites are full of misleading information that will hinder you rather than help you along the way. Maddux Sports has quality books listed on our site, why take unnecessary risks when betting online. When we define quality in an online sports betting sportsbook – the quality we look for include longevity, perks, financial stability, overnight odds, fast pay outs, reduced juice and high limits amongst other things. There is unfortunately only one book that has all of these features and that is the Pinnacle Sportsbook. Pinnacle is number one sportsbook around and it is a must have for the novice and also the advanced bettors.

If you are just starting out in the world of online betting and are still learning the process, you may not need all of the things listed above in a sportsbook at first. Things such as high limits, overnight lines and such may not be as important to you in the beginning stages. However, longevity and financial stability should be of utmost importance and that is precisely why we only recommend a few books. After all the point of betting is to assure you get paid when you win, right?!

Most of the other books listed on our site offer six of the seven quality traits that we have outline above and they are all rated an A in our opinion. The one quality that some of them lack is “reduced juice” and as we mentioned above, if you are just starting out then this will not be as important to you right now.

Personal loan mistakes and how to avoid them

If you are thinking about taking out a personal loan, then there are a number of things you should be aware of before signing anything. Although personal loans can be extremely useful for paying off debts or improving your cash flow, if you make mistakes then you can end up in financial trouble. If you know about these common personal loan mistakes and how to avoid them then you will find the right loan for your needs.

Getting too many quotes

Although shopping around for your loan is important, you should also remember not to get too many detailed quotes from lenders. Every time you apply for a loan or get a detailed quote, the lender in question has to pull up your credit report. If you credit report is continuously being looked at or loan applications turned down, then your credit rating will suffer. This will affect your chances of getting the loan that you want. Shop around as much as you want to compare prices and interest rates, but do not make applications until you are sure the lender is the right one for you.

Hiding financial problems

It may be tempting when applying for a loan to hide your past financial problems, or to stretch the truth when it comes to your earnings. If you do this it is likely to end up with you being refused for a loan, or even being in trouble for giving false information. If you have had credit problems in the past and have recovered from them, this is often seen as a positive sign because lenders can see that you honour your commitments and are able to get yourself out of problems. If you are honest then you will get more competitive terms and will not get yourself into legal trouble.

Borrowing more than you can repay

One of the most common mistakes people make is to borrow more than they can repay. This is especially true if you get a secured loan, because the lender is less concerned if you pay or not as they have some collateral in place. You need to be honest with yourself and work out a strict budget. Only agree to a loan that you know you can pay back not only now but when times are hard. If you do this then your loan will help you improve your financial status rather than to make your problems worse.

Believing in promotional advertising

When taking out loans, too many people focus on the promotional interest rates that companies offer. Although these interest rates seem like an amazing deal, you rarely end up being eligible for such a low rate. Even if you can get a very low rate, there are often hidden charges to consider that are not mentioned. Instead of looking at APR, look at how much you have to repay in total, as this is the more important figure. If you go to a responsible lender then their fees and charges should be transparent and clear, and you will get a deal that will suit your needs and not leave you paying more than you should be.

No time your best fake excuse to avoid writing

After a full day of work, family and life, you fall into bed exhausted. Mentally ticking off your to-do list, you cycle through shopping lists, phone calls, appointments, feeling good about what you have gotten done, until you get to the thing you really want to do. You lay there, bathed in regret – why didn’t you get your writing done today? You vow to do it tomorrow. You will make time for your novel or that article you know would sell. You consider angles, write a few lines in your head, and fired up with enthusiasm for your writing, you fall asleep. The next day continues on much like the one before and you live the life of an unfulfilled writer, all because you do not do the simple work of making time to write.

The task of finding and dedicating time for your writing can be daunting. Many people who want to write identify this as the number one challenge – finding time. How can you give yourself more time when there are a limited number of hours in the day plus housework, family, a job, and other personal or professional obligations to fulfill? You can’t create more hours in your day but you can restructure the ones you have to make more time for your writing. As a writer and a coach for writers, I have identified some of the reasons behind the challenge and offer some ways to get around the lack of time excuse.

Often the “lack of time” is really a mask for writing fears. The work of writing, while satisfying, can be difficult to make time for. We put it off to do the easier things, the things we know how to do. Think about the things you do when you are procrastinating getting to the writing. Do you clean, cook, or exercise? Do you spend your valuable writing time reading or watching TV? The act of writing challenges us to dive into ourselves and come out with something tangible. This is not easy. Notice when you are resisting and when you really do not have time to write.

There are a limited number of hours in the day, but often we give away our passion and power by forgetting that we can always choose what to do with our time. I can hear you saying, “Well, I have my job, and then I have my family, and kids, and all these other obligations.” Your roles become more powerful than you are because you believe you have no choice in the matter. Certainly dinner needs to be served. Certainly you have other commitments that you need to honor. But who decided that your writing wasn’t as important as everything else? What would life be like if your passions had a place in the schedule as well? What difference would it make to the people in your life if you staked a claim for your writing? Hmmm...

With the help of a perspective shift, you may realize that your writing is important, too. Perhaps in your mind it has been important, but you haven’t taken that extra step to actually make space for it. Without space, your writing becomes a burden on your back, something you want to do but can’t. You then become a victim of your life. No fun.

Look at the following ways to restructure your time both internally and externally. Then try out a few of them and see what works for you.

Get in the habit of writing in short bursts of time. Give yourself ten, fifteen, or twenty minutes to write and then learn how to make the most of those bursts of writing. This means sidestepping the wandering or procrastination that distract you from writing.

Wake up early. Set your alarm twenty minutes early and give yourself that time to write. If the thought of getting up earlier makes you cringe, try giving yourself time at the end of the day.

Do you watch TV? Give it up and give yourself more time to write. Many people use TV as a way to zone out and relax at the end of the day, but isn’t there a better way to relax and be entertained? Yes! Use your writing to relax. Which leads me to...

Reframe the way you think about writing. Of course the art of writing is work, but if you think of it as drudgery and something that requires a lot of you, you are missing out on the rejuvenating aspects of the practice.

Whenever you do get a chance to write, take a minute when you are finished and write down three words that describe how you feel after writing. Use these words as a lure to get you to the page when you feel tired or uninspired.

Take part of your lunchtime to write. Or, use your allotted coffee or smoke breaks to slip away from work and scribble a few lines.

The real issue is often time management. We may have enough time but do not use it in a way that honors our priorities. What are your priorities? If you are not showing up for your writing, maybe it isn’t a priority. What else is going on in your life that is more compelling than writing? Take a moment now to jot down where you spend your time. What do you notice about your priorities?

Once you have a clear picture of where your time goes, how do you feel about it? Does the way you spend your time reflect what is important to you? Work and other obligations seem more fixed and indeed they may be for now, but where else can you make decisions to get writing into your life?

Perhaps your topic or project isn’t seductive enough. I have been working on the same project for years now, and there were times when I just wasn’t interested. I gave myself a break, knowing that I would come back to it. Now I have an angle on it that is compelling and fun and I am more eager to make time for it. How can you approach your project in a way that would entice you to make time for it? How do you find a writing project that earns your time and attention?

Play with an entirely new perspective. Let go of the idea of you as a writer. Perhaps now that you are clear about how you spend your time you are happy with it. Maybe you have realized that you really don’t want to make the effort to write at this point after all. How free would you feel if you let yourself off the hook for having the writing urge and not having the time to indulge it?

Try a tool I use with my clients. Imagine giving up writing, and the idea of writing. I call it ‘taking away the bone.’ Think of a dog with a bone. Imagine trying to grab the bone from the dog’s mouth. The dog will hang onto that bone for dear life. If the thought of losing your writing urge makes you want to grab onto it even tighter, it could be a signal that you need to do what it takes to make writing a priority in your life. Commit to yourself as a writer, get clear about your writing projects, and let it happen.

Looking for hot and funky maternity clothes

Before, pregnant women go through a style crisis the moment they get pregnant because most department stores did not carry any maternity clothes or if there was any it was only a small collection whose designs were utterly hideous. Lucky were those girls who had the benefit of being able to sew their own maternity clothes or perhaps who had friends or family who could design some for them. But even so, the fabrics and the outdated designs were still somewhat unflattering for the pregnant woman who is supposed to be at her most beautiful and best when expecting a child.

For the entire nine month pregnancy period, these women had to wear polyester pants and floral tops. But not for the pregnant women of today who are given a wide array of choices when it comes to maternity wear to keep them looking hot and funky even with their baby bumps.

The fashion industry has realized the market and the need of these pregnant women who still desire to be stylish and fashionable even with their delicate condition. These hot mommas don't let a few extra pounds suppress their sense of style when it comes to fashion.

Pregnancy has its challenges but with stylish and fashionable maternity wear, facing those challenges makes it more rewarding.

Reality exposed

Did you know that our thoughts may be influencing our reality and lives? Have you ever seen a movie called 'What the Bleep Do We Know!?'.

Interestingly, there is a part in the movie about how different emotional states affect water molecules and cause them to form patterns. Imagine your suprise upon discovering that there is a different pattern for love, joy, etc.

You may start to notice the ways that your mind and body are interrelated and how your thoughts affect your body. For example, a lifetime of negative thinking may manifest in a body that is in worse shape than the body of someone who always maintains a sunny outlook on life.

Imagine for a moment that things aren't necessarily what they may seem. There is a whole lot more going on out there than we are 'tuned' into. Just pondering over this for a while may start to open your mind to new possibilities.

We only see a certain range of light with our eyes. Yet, science tells us that the full range of the light spectrum is far beyond what human beings can see with the naked eye.

Of course, you may surmise the same idea applies to our human hearing. There is a greater frequency range for sound than what the human ear can hear. Consider the notion that there are entire realities that we, as human beings, don't normally experience.

Fascinating, isn't it?

Ever wonder why insects willingly fly into a spider's web? Science tells us that from the insects' point of view, and the spectrum of light that they see, a web is a beautiful multicolored rainbow.

Our perception of reality appears to be limited by the range of frequencies that we are physically aware of. Imagine how different your life might be, if you were able to sense more of these frequencies?

You may have pondered that we are born as a blank slate, very open to the influences that we encounter after birth and as children. Perhaps our current education system only takes us so far.

Isn't it exciting to think that the truth of our lives and this universe might be a whole lot more interesting than you ever dared to dream and goes beyond what you were taught in school? The implications are staggering.

Hello from new york city - part 4 - staten island and a random act of violence

The Staten Island Ferry is a fabulous institution. It is a huge ferry that departs from a very modern, glass enclosed terminal, holds several thousand people and in just about 20 minutes whisks you over to Staten Island, very close to the Statue of Liberty, and all this for free! One thing we really noticed about New York City is that we definitely love the public transportation system. With our week long pass we have been hopping on an off subways as we please and we have found the transit system to be very efficient, pretty clean and quite safe (for the most part).

The Staten Island Ferry is a great insiders way of sneaking a peak at the Statue of Liberty since it passes pretty close by Ellis Island. Not close enough to take really great pictures with a simple digital camera like mine, but I gave it a shot anyway.

As we got off the ferry terminal on Staten Island I had a bit of a hare-brained idea: I suggested that we board one of the buses that was waiting there, just to hop on and ride around and see the island. Of course I didn't have a bus map with me, didn't have any literature about Staten Island, so didn't know where we were going or what the major destinations were on the island. So we got on the #46 bus without any idea where we were going or how long it was going to take. (I guess I figured how big can the island be? Well, it's bigger than I thought...).

But we saw a good chunk of Staten Island's neighbourhoods and there are some pretty nice residential neighbourhoods, although I had expected a more upscale, more landscaped environment. The ethnic mix in the area seemed to be very much characterized by Blacks and Latinos, at least those were pretty much the only people getting on the bus. School had just ended so a bunch of highschool kids had gotten on with us.

Well, we rode the darn bus until the end, which ended up being a non-descript shopping mall called "West Shore Plaza", where we ended up having a sandwich and strolling around in a sports store which had amazingly good prices on most merchandise. Then finally another bus showed up and we had to run to catch it.

It was a pretty non-eventful bus ride, people of all ages got on and off, then two young black teenage boys got on, but didn't pay. The bus driver didn't question them and we just continued the ride. All of a sudden, I heard a big noise, like someone fists hitting another person and all the people in the bus turned around, and the two young men were beating up a young short Latino teenager. It all took just a few seconds, right before a bus stop. The whole event was too quick for anyone else to react, although I have to say, the crowd showed compassion and shock at what had happened. The minute the bus came to a stop, the two guys jumped out and ran away.

Everybody was shocked. The Latino kid was sitting there, rumpled, stunned, not seriously hurt, but had a very pained expression on his face. After he had calmed down he explained that about 8 kids were trying to extract money form him at the bus stop, he said he didn't have any and gave them an expired transit pass and 2 of the guys followed him onto the bus.

I have never personally witnessed public violence, so this was very shocking to me and I was glad that the kid wasn't really hurt. But I did feel very sorry for the victim and the whole event left a bad taste in my mouth, particularly since we had had the impression that New York City had felt so clean and safe. As a matter of fact we had commented on that a number of times, of how little litter there was in the street, how few street people or hustlers there were, how there was no graffiti in the subways, and how safe it felt to be taking transit at all hours of the day. We heard that former mayor Rudy Giuliani as well as current mayor Michael Bloomberg have really been cleaning up the city, and it shows. I guess it still doesn't prevent all violence from happening.

After our return to Manhattan we subwayed it all the way up to 103rd Street and essentially walked all the way down through Central Park, admiring all the recreational facilities and the beauty of this giant green space. Further south we strolled over to 5th Avenue and then down into the Broadway Area just north of Times Square, where we had some quick Italian food at Ray's Pizza. The evening was pretty chilly, probably only about 12 degrees or so and past 11 we headed back home on the Q train, processing the memories of another packed day and studying the behaviour of our fellow transit riders all the way back.

Putting your estate in order

Estate planning for business owners.

For business owners, an effective estate plan addresses a number of concerns over and above the desire to care for surviving family members. Control over who will run the business, conservation of the owner's assets in the face of legal expenses and taxes, and the liquidity to pay estate taxes due shortly after death are just some of the most pressing issues.

For the sake of their heirs, business owners should plan for the orderly transfer of their wealth — including their business interests — well in advance.

Prepare for Estate Taxes:

Depending on the value of business and personal assets at the time of death, the law may require that estate taxes be paid on the value of the business. If there is not enough cash on hand, heirs may have no choice but to sell the business prematurely or for less than the real value.

Some business owners use an irrevocable life insurance trust to purchase policies on their life, collect any death benefits, and distribute the money according to prearranged terms. The proceeds can be used to pay any estate taxes due, so heirs are not forced to sell a business, property, or other assets they would prefer to keep in the family. The use of these approaches can involve a complex web of tax rules and regulations. You should consider the counsel of an experienced estate planning professional before implementing such strategies.

Plan for Successful Succession:

A buy-sell agreement may be forged between the owners or shareholders of a business, outlining the terms for a buyout in the event of death or disability. It usually includes a pre-negotiated sale price, but can also explicitly request individuals to sell their interests to others or indicate who should manage the business operations.

Payments from a life insurance trust may also be used to buy assets from an estate, such as transferring ownership of a family business according to a pre-existing buy-sell agreement.

Your business is not just your livelihood. It's likely to be the largest portion of your estate and thus the core of the legacy and security you intend to leave behind for your family. A solid estate plan can help keep your business intact through the most difficult transition of all.

Parenting tips on getting your child to take medicine they hate

As a parent you hate it when your kids are sick. We want them to get better as quick as possible, and of course usually the quickest way is with antibiotics or medicine of some kind.

Where the problem comes in is when your child does not like their medicine and does not want to take it. While you of course will give your child what the doctor prescribes but don't be afraid to ask about the taste and if you have a child that struggles to take a certain kind of medicine see if their is an alternative.

Yes we can force feed them their medicine but it is unpleasant for everyone and if your child gets upset enough they will just throw it back up anyway. Plus unless you are extremely proficient at this you may waste doses.

Anything you can do for your child to make it easier for them to take their medicine will get them healthier quicker and save you and them from some miserable moments.

I have found with liquids that don't taste good that if I have a drink ready with something sweet it seems to help, I have even been known to use a spoon full of sugar to help the medicine go down easier.

While no parent likes to do it you can plug your child's nose so they have to open their mouth and try it that way. If your quick it does work most of the time, but that doesn't solve the problem if they hate their chewables or can't swallow pills easy.

I finally resorted to bribery with the nasty tasting chewable medicine. We got a package of sweet tarts and she would have a sweet tart, follow it with the chewable, and then another sweet tart. This of course only works if you child likes this type of candy. But you can try others if you have to.

When it comes to pills that need to be swallowed that is sometimes tough for children to learn how to do. I have found that placing the pill in a spoonful of applesauce makes it easier for my daughter to get the pill down without choking.

I hope these tips help. Make sure you are firm when it comes to medicine, let them know that somehow someway the medicine must get into their tummy to make them feel better. But that doesn't mean you can't be sympathetic and follow the dosage with a whole lot of attention and love.

Be a leader not a follower

Most people in life are happy to follow the lead of other people, to sit on the fence in a debate or have the attitude of hiding at the back of the class. The most successful people are leaders and make things happen for themselves by taking a positive attitude and through working very hard to reach their goals. We are all able to become leaders and this article may help you to achieve this status.

I grew up as a very nervous person, who had very little self-confidence and who was very shy. I was not happy being this way and often felt jealous of other people who were happy to speak up and take control of tasks and situations. I wanted to be one of these leaders and not the follower that I certainly had become.

In my early twenties, I decided that the time had arrived to make a series of life changing decisions. I was determined to have a happy and successful life and was aware that I needed to change my whole attitude and approach to life.

I was not happy at where I worked and joined an employment agency in an attempt to find alternative employment. In the reception area of the agency, I started speaking to a man who was also their hoping to find a different job. His name was Mark and we got on well and wished each other the best of luck in our quest to find work. We even exchanged phone numbers and vowed to keep each other up to date with our progress.

I was then interviewed by a man who explained his plan to help me to find this new role of work. He was very bright, clever and positive and had many interesting ideas. He seemed very confident that I would soon be employed for a different company more suited to the skills which I had.

At one stage of the meeting he described the scenario of a group interview. He suggested that we may be ushered into a large room with a big table. As we sat down there would be a sheet of paper asking the group to debate a particular subject. He stated that all of the people in the room would be in the same position, all looking for work, all nervous, however that in that room I could be whoever I wanted to be. He said that I needed to stand up and take the lead by stating that I would act as chairman and that if anyone had a comment that they wanted to make, that they could raise their hand. If I did this I would show my prospective employer that I was a leader.

I went home and thought about this and did not believe I had it in me to act in the way that he wanted me to, as I was not a leader. Later that evening Mark phoned and all he was talking about was the group interview scenario. He also stated that there was no way that he would be able to stand up either in the way that had been described.

I did not have to ever attend a group interview, but Mark did. He surprised himself by carrying out the advice and stated that after he had said his initial statement about being the chairman, that he had never felt so powerful and in control. For the rest of the day other members of the group had been regularly asking him questions as if he was some sort of team leader. He was very proud of himself and I am happy to report that he was successful at that interview and is very happy in his new position.

He has also taken the success and learning experience into his social life and states that he has never had a higher self-esteem. I am very pleased for him as he is a genuine person who works very hard. He is also one of only a few friends that I can honestly say that I trust.

I have taken inspiration from Mark and have entered into a career of helping people who stutter, to achieve fluency. This is something which I really enjoy and which gives me a large amount of job satisfaction. I am also far more confident than I ever have been and have at last found happiness.

In conclusion we all have it in us to be a leader. We need to be brave and determined to take control and remember that all we can do in life is to try our best. We are only sure about living one life, so lets be happy and not accept second best. Be a leader in life, not a follower.

Learning styles - the all-essential guide

People have different learning styles, and it sure can be very helpful to identify your own. Although a number of people can use enough learning styles to be able to fare pretty well in school, there are some people who have different strengths and weaknesses in different area.

For instance, a person with a visual learning style is likely to do very well when looking at diagrams, pictures, or text in a book. Visual learning styles might even have a photographic memory in some cases, which will allow them to remember practically anything at all that they have seen even once. Although all of the different learning styles have their advantages and disadvantages, visual learners are perhaps best adapted to a standard education environment.

For sure, the auditory learning style is also relatively essential for classroom achievement, and students who can not learn auditorily are very often at quite a disadvantage when in the traditional classroom setting. The fact is auditory learners do their best work when either listening to instruction, or taking in information through their ears. Of all of the learning styles, auditory learners tend to order things most sequentially, their memories having the habit of cuing themselves up to the sequence of sounds.

If you are a kinesthetic learner, you may be in for trouble when you are dealing with the public school system, as you will not be able to grasp through visual and auditory learning styles – the two most important styles in modern education. In the case of kinesthetic learners, a person would preferably like to get things through touch and texture, through actually moving and doing something rather than absorbing it passively. Those who have this learning style in fact do quite well as mechanics, construction workers, or artists, as they are so thoroughly cued in to issues of touch. Of all of the learning styles, they have the best grasp of the physical world – it just simply comes intuitively for them.

If you are thinking about your learning style, or perhaps of your child who might be holding him or her, or you back, it is surely best to get them evaluated by a competent education consultant. There are several people who are skilled at testing learning styles, and might be able to help you find more effective ways to learn your lessons, which in turn will greatly improve your educational opportunities. The educational system is taught as if there were only one way to learn, but in reality it is much different than that. There are a number of learning styles, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Travel advice how to choose your luggage

It is true that you cannot find a single luggage that will be able to meet all your travel needs. Knowing which type of luggage is right for you depends on your packing style and the type of travel.

An important consideration when it comes to luggage decision is the kind of trip you will be taking, the activities that you plan to be doing and the number of belongings that you plan to bring along with you. You should find a bag that provides convenience when it comes to packing, comfortable to carry and versatile.

Travel backpacks have internal frames, a suspension system and can be converted into a hand held bag. Some styles even have a removable daypack for short daily excursions. Travel backpacks are ideal for travelers who desire mobility and would prefer to carry all of their gear. If you plan to visit urban areas, these backpacks are not suited.

Available as well is wheeled luggage categorized into two namely the traditional wheeled luggage and the convertible wheeled luggage. The traditional wheeled luggage is equipped with durable and heavy-duty handles and in-line wheels. This type of wheeled luggage is not suited for the adventure seekers but is ideal for business travelers or people visiting urban areas. A piece of advice for business travelers is to have a suitcase, a carry-on and a briefcase as these pieces work well together.

Convertible wheeled luggage can be converted to a wheeled luggage and could as well function as a backpack. This luggage is equipped with hidden shoulder straps to enable you to carry the bag as a backpack. It can even be carried as a duffel bag. This type is suited for travel to an urban area. As the bags are not equipped with a hip belt, these are not suited for long backpacking as the entire weight of the bag will be supported only by the shoulders.

Duffels are of three types which include the general purpose travel that comes in varying sizes, wheeled duffels and expedition duffels. General purpose travels have various sizes and are cheaper as compared to other luggage types. This is ideal for short trips and if you are traveling light.

Expedition duffels can be equipped with straps to convert the bag into a backpack for added convenience. These are suited for travelers who have a lot of gear to bring along with them and it isn't necessary for them to carry the duffel by hand within a considerable distance upon arriving at the destination.

Wheeled duffels provide a large storage capacity and are equipped with wheels. This is very much ideal for travelers who need to bring along with them a lot of gear but would need the convenience of wheels to maneuver their luggage at airports or train stations. This is not suitable though for travel to remote areas as compared to the travel backpacks.

For those who are into camping, climbing or backpacking, internal frame backpacks are for you. These have been specifically designed to provide good support for long periods of hauling gear on wilderness trips.

With the numerous travel luggage and bags available for you, check on which types are suited for your type of trip.

Payday loan application procedures

Payday loan is the fastest way of getting emergency cash within 24 hours. And it’s easy to apply for. Here’s what do for a payday loan application.

Loan approval is the first phase of a payday loan application. Fast cash through a payday loan begins by going online on the Internet. Online payday loan companies line search engines. Once a payday loan outfit is chosen, register with the following information before a payday loan application is made. US citizenship is a must, a job that pays at least $1,000 monthly, a job that has been kept for at least 3 months up to the present, at least 18 years of age or more, a checking account opened for three months now, and a good credit record. All these are to be filled out on the online registration form prior to the payday loan application.

Once the registration is done, the client proceeds to fill out the online payday loan application. Most payday loans offer a minimum loan of $100 and a maximum of $600 to $1,000. But be sure to take note of the repayment term on the payday loan application form. Check out the interest rate and ensure that it is within the acceptable range of 20 to 25 percent. Indicate the amount to be loaned and fill out other pertinent information on the payday loan application.

Bad credit records are no cause for worry. Most payday loans are approved regardless of credit standing---though bad credit records incur higher interest rates. When payday loan application is ready, submit it and wait for an acknowledgement from the loan company. It takes only about a few seconds or 30 minutes, at most, for payday loans to be approved. Bad credit records may take longer. An email is often sent to acknowledge approval. Then, about an hour from the approval of the payday loan application, the loaned amount is transferred to the checking account, ready for withdrawal or for issuing checks on.

Paying a payday loan usually falls on the second week, or just before the next payday, according to the terms specified in the payday loan application. The whole amount must be paid in full on the deadline of payment through the checking account.

A payday loan application is easy to accomplish and submit. No documentation hassles as in traditional loans, no need to fax anything or stand in line waiting. A payday loan application gets approved within the hour and money is sent directly to the checking account within 24 hours or less.

The domain name that you will use will normally consist of worlds that are related to your product. In the past these names have been restricted to letters A to Z and numbers 0 to 9. Normally the only other character that has been allowed to be used was the hyphen. This means that non-English speaking users were a little restricted in their dmain name which has led to a wider variety of characters being introduced now. This system is known as the IDN or Internationalized domain name.

Benefits of Having a Domain Name

Having a website address that links other people and businesses alike easily to your product or service enables you to be found without much difficulty. Often if you are providing something where competition is fierce if you are difficult to locate people will automatically jump to the next option. The value of having a domain name that links to you straight away means that you will normally be the first in the long list of returned hits.

People do not want to remember complex or clever names therefore having your domain name that relates to what you do means that it will be easy to recall when the time arises. Although it is good to have something quirky and different, it is perhaps better to leave this to the content of your website rather than to naming it in this manner. It also shows some professionalism if your name relates to your business.

The importance of having your domain name relate to your product or service can be seen in the price paid for these names by individuals or companies. Sometimes millions of dollars are paid for these addresses as the internet grows and competition becomes fiercer for advertising space. Your choice of website address essentially means that you have greatly increased your hit count for your site as people search the Internet for your product.

Companies that register these website addresses often have search engine type facilities that allow you a quick and convenient way of scanning already registered names in order to find your perfect one. The value of having your own website address opens your business up to the world. Unlike a local newspaper or television advert, the internet allows global advertising so when someone looks for a product online, if yours is relative to what you offer you should be one of the first returned hits.

When you register to have your own domain name you should also be able to get email addresses using these names for everyone in your company. This is further advertising for you and makes it easier for others to remember how to get in touch with you as opposed to remembering which service provider you use instead. It also means that your name is carried with you wherever you go in the world, making relocation easy without having to disrupt your business.

Having a website address that easily relates to your business means that you will be easy to find and easy to remember. It allows you international exposure and the means to expand globally without the expense and inconvenience of having to source advertising outlets around the world. It helps to produce a more professional image for you and for your business.

Mexican living survival tip 3 finding work

Though I have written a lot on the issue of expatriation to Mexico, one of the most common questions from the “younger crowd” is, “Can I find work?”.

This is, in a way, a pathetic commentary on life in America. Younger people, though those I know will not admit this, are wanting to escape America for the simple reason that, well, life really sucks in America. And, they want out at increasingly younger and younger ages.

“Can I get a job and support myself?”, is what one young woman recently asked me via email.

I answered, “Yes. No. Maybe. I don’t know. Could you repeat the question?”

The ambiguity of my silly reply is rooted in the following.

The Mexican law says you cannot work in Mexico as a foreigner if you would be taking a job away from a Mexican national. And, if you find work in Mexico that no Mexican national can do, then you must obtain a work visa. The consequence for not following the rules would be deportation at the very least and maybe even a jail term at the very worst.

Now, for the truth:

Americans are working in Mexico (I know a lot of them) without work documents and are doing everything from teaching English to working as delivery people.

Let’s go over this one step at a time.

1.If you had an accounting degree, had worked at Sony in their accounting department, and had a lot of experience handling multi-million dollar accounts, you could be in big demand in Mexico. The reason is that more and more Mexican businesses need English speakers to conduct business in English with America and the rest of the English-speaking world. Let’s say that there was a Mexican national who had the same credentials and who had a 85%-95% English fluency rate. The chances are of you getting that job would be slim—but not impossible!

2.If you had a degree from an American university, and could more or less figure out through your personal research how to teach English to Mexicans, you could very possibly beat out a Mexican national who had an English degree from an American university and was certified to teach ESL. The reason is that you could teach English as a native speaker and the Mexican national could not.

This is all so tricky!

My wife, who has a degree in Education with certification in English, was offered a job at a private university here with an impressive salary. The school would have obtained her work papers for her and even paid her an attractive benefit package. At most, if not all, the private schools that offer English as a Second Language, none of the native speaking English teachers have work documents. I know of one guy who has been teaching in Mexico for 9 years without a work visa.

It gets even trickier!

I know of Australians, Germans, Austrians, Canadians, and Americans who work in positions in Mexico not only without work papers but are working in jobs that Mexican nationals could do.

Confusing? You do not know the half of it.

Though the “law on the books” says one thing, the rule in Mexico is that “people do pretty much want they want and no one ever says anything about it.”

Mexican employers know the law and yet hire Americans routinely and just “pay them under the table in cash”. Private business owners are not routinely hassled by the federal government here. The proof of this is that there are scores of foreigners working in Mexico for private employers without work papers for years and no one bothers them!

I know a owner of a school that teaches ESL. Her husband is a lawyer and best friends with some immigration official. This official will make sure that the Americans employed by his pal’s wife are “overlooked” in the event of a rare and unheard of immigration crackdown.

That is how life operates in his country!

To get work in Mexico all depends on who you know, how you contact them, and how you are willing to treat them. Come across like the stereotypical sour grapes American and you will not get a job. Come across as someone who is loving, caring, and respects Mexican culture and you might get a good job because the Mexican businessperson likes you.

Just remember this: Mexico is a country where “The Right hand never knows or cares what The Left hand is doing.” You will just have to come here and try to get work. You might find some. Then again, you might not!

So, can you get work in Mexico?

“Yes. No. Maybe. I don’t know. Could you repeat the question?”

You can be happy if you decide to be

Well, the holidays are over and you’re probably feeling generally burned out by all the excess - too much socializing, too much family, too much food and drink, too much money spent…and the list goes on. The holidays, while mostly enjoyable, can also bring about a real ‘letdown’ feeling when they’re over. We often feel blue, out-of-sorts, and lacking direction and focus. So what do we do to feel more ‘together’ and ‘in control’ after such a time? We make resolutions! You know the drill: I will lose 10 pounds in the next three months, I will be kinder to my partner, I’ll stick to a strict budget, etc.

Well, I’ve got another one to add to your New Year’s Resolutions list and it’s number one on mine and that is:

I WILL BE MORE POSITIVE IN MY THINKING IN ORDER TO ATTRACT WHAT I REALLY WANT.

Did I make this idea up? I wish…No, this concept is filtering into all of our brains on a daily basis and is ‘all the rage’ these days. It’s trendy. It’s fashionable. And yes, it can lead to the attainment of a fabulous wardrobe. And that’s not all…

The entire concept solidified for me the other night while watching a film a colleague loaned me called, “The Secret” (you can find it online at: thesecret. tv/home. html). While very Hollywood and at times, downright cheesy, the basic message is very good. In short, it’s all about “the law of attraction” which states that what we focus on in our minds is what we get. I utilise this concept extensively in my self-help book, “Dump That Chump” ( dumpthatchump. com) to help women let go of toxic relationship patterns and attract their ideal partner. In short, what we tell ourselves about what is possible for us to attain, is what we draw to us.

For example, if we believe that all men are jerks and that they really do come from Mars; that’s the kind of guys we’ll attract. On the other hand, if we believe that there is a multitude of decent, kind, loving, and emotionally available men out there just waiting to meet someone fabulous like ourselves, those are the kind of guys that we’ll attract. I like how Marianne Williamson, an expert on the Course In Miracles puts it: She says that we essentially send out psychic ‘radar’ to potential partners letting them know what and who we’re looking for and that “when we get serious, the Universe takes us seriously.”

Other great thinkers call it, “being in the flow”; you know that feeling when you’re doing what you love and everything is just so easy and seems to fall into place and you feel warm and fuzzy inside and feel connected to everything and everyone around you…that’s what I’m talking about. That’s exactly the feeling I have right now as I write this. I feel lit up inside, thrilled about sharing what I know with others, totally connected to my purpose, and knowing deep in my heart that I am using the gifts the Creator gave me. It’s a fabulous feeling and a lot better for my health than a chocolate bar!

I’m sure you’ve had similar moments and my guess is that you want to have more of them. We all do. How can it be done, you ask? BY CHANGING OUR THINKING. You see, we learn a lot of things in school, but something sadly lacking in the curriculum is how to think properly. I feel that as a society, the majority of us suffer from what they call in 12-step groups, “stinking thinking”. We are constantly telling ourselves negative things about who we are and what we can achieve. A lot of this is unconscious and we don’t even realise we’re doing it. I mean, who in their right mind would consciously sabotage themselves hundreds of times a day and continue to feel unfulfilled and not get what they really want out of life?

Examples of stinking thinking I hear every day from clients are things like:

“I know my partner treats me badly, but all guys are like that”.

“I really want to work for myself and get out of this horrible job I’m in and do what I’m really passionate about, but that’s not realistic - I have bills to pay.”

“I’ve always wanted to take dance lessons but I totally suck at dancing and I’m too old now to do that anyway.”

And what do we end up getting when we put such messages out to the Universe? Exactly what we put out there. In The Secret, they say that we create our own reality through our thoughts - this is not a new idea as many famous philosophers, scientists, and mystics have been saying this for thousands of years. And yet, so many of us ignore this basic truth and keep ourselves stuck by ‘playing small’ in life and not asking for too much. God forbid, we should be successful, happy, healthy, and full of love.

I know this way of being all too well as I come from a family and a culture where suffering is almost next to Godliness. The fodder for most conversation focuses on how bad one’s health is, or the horrible state of the world and how uncaring the human race is, etc. I soaked up these messages very early on and walked around with my head down, being ever so serious (I’m still working on that one), and feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders.

But lately, I’ve had an epiphany and that is that my suffering and focusing on the negatives doesn’t help myself or anyone else live a better life, clean up the environment, stop wars and killing, or end poverty. It just ends up depressing the hell out of me (and everyone around me) and leaves me feeling hopeless and apathetic. When you’re feeling depressed and hopeless, chances are you’re not going to have much ‘get up and go’ to change things for the positive on a global level.

I find that an old adage comes in very handy for bringing about the positive changes we desire in ourselves and in the world around us and that is: FAKE IT TIL YOU MAKE IT. Act as if you have whatever it is you want RIGHT NOW even in the face of contrary evidence. Your brain doesn’t know the difference - it believes what you tell it to be true.

In this vein, I leave some homework to start off your New Year on a positive and affirming note:

On an index card, write down five positive affirmations to attract things you want in your life and write them as if they have already manifested in your life. For example, “I am fit and healthy. Every day I become healthier and stronger in my body and my mind.”

Read your affirmations out loud once in the morning upon awakening and once before bed so they set your day and then summarize your day and soak deeply into your unconscious.

Do this for three months and see what happens! You’ll be amazed.

Happy thinking!

Wedding cakes

When planning a wedding reception, be sure to give special attention to the wedding cake. There is, of course, a certain chain of events and best practices that are good to follow.

When you are ready to select a wedding cake, you should arrange to meet with three bakers and taste their products. If you have attended or are planning on attending a bridal show, you can easily and quickly take care of this task at the show.

If you have a certain look you are going for with your wedding cake, be sure to bring a picture of what you would like when meeting with bakers. It is also a good idea to bring along your cake topper if you already have it as well as fabric swatches of the bridesmaid’s dresses. Also, be prepared to give the baker an estimated number of guests that you are expecting.

When you meet with the baker, be sure to ask to see a portfolio of pictures that have been taken of the baker’s previous work. In addition, always check references before making a final decision.

When you are interviewing the bakers, ask each one the same questions so that you do not forget anything and so that you can make an accurate comparison. Some things to inquire about are the set-up and take-down of the table where the cake will be, who will put the cake topper on the cake, who will place napkins, plates, flowers, etc. on the table, and who will direct the cutting of the cake.

Also, find out where the cake will be stored (it must be out of direct sunlight), who will be in charge of boxing up the cake top and giving to a previously designated person, what arrangements will be made for the left-over cake, and who will cut the cake and distribute it. Cutting a wedding cake is much trickier than it looks and must be done by someone who is familiar with the process.

When you are reviewing a baker’s contract, be sure to note several things. For instance, you should immediately see the name, contact person, location, and phone numbers for the bakery. The cake size, shape, and number of tiers must be on the contract. Be sure that the cake flavor(s), fillings, and icing are noted and that returnable items are clearly stated.

Be sure that the number of guests the cake is to serve is on the contract as we;; as when the cake was ordered, when the cake will be delivered and assembled, what the set-up fee is if applicable, and the due dates for deposits and balances. For more information on wedding cakes and other wedding ideas, be sure to go to bridalblog. info.

In closing, choosing a cake can really be a lot of fun. You have the chance to sample some goodies and make some light-hearted decisions about fillings, flavors, and decorations. However, in the process, make sure you are noting all of the details that need to be covered so that you are confident in your baker’s ability to deliver the product that you are expecting.

Make the most of your mortgage leads

If you are a loan officer or mortgage broker and you invest in mortgage leads, or you are considering investing in mortgage leads, make sure you are making the most of them.

A lead provider, if they are a good one, can provide you with a good quality lead, the rest is up to you.

The lead provider has no control over what the potential customer might say.

Put yourself in the customer’s shoes. Purchasing a home or refinancing an existing one are very big financial decisions in the life of the consumer. They most likely will be a little apprehensive.

When you call a lead you receive from a lead provider, and the customer seems to be in a stand off mood, say something like this.

“Would you mind if I just went over some of the programs we have to offer, it will only take a minute of your time, and it will cost you absolutely nothing.”

This approach takes the pressure off of the customer, and nine times out of ten, they will move forward with you and listen to what it is you have to offer.

If a customer says they are no longer interested, it is only because they lost their nerve.

Say something like this.

“ Oh, that is too bad, I have a lot of great programs that fit the description of the profile you filled out on line, it will only take a minute and it will cost you nothing.”

You will be surprised at the responses you receive.

Whatever you do, don’t give up after the first try. It is all about the approach. You do the talking, tell them what they need to hear about your products, it will make a huge difference in the amount of loans you close.
